TASKS WITH IMPACT

The Store Format & Design Team leads the global Douglas format strategy, orchestrating the transformation of Douglas stores across Europe with unparalleled experience.

We are looking for a highly motivated Head of Store Design  who is passionate about ensuring a next level of customer experience in all Douglas stores. This role plays a significant role in achieving the overarching goal of Douglas Brand consistency across all stores. Do you have a strong focus on providing excellent retail design knowledge, scalable execution input and transfer of initial design idea into feasible construction? A highly motivated team is waiting for you to join.

  • You lead the global Store Design Team and have both technical and disciplinary responsibility for your direct reports. Furthermore you are responsible for building effective ways of working within your team, introducing efficient digital processes, and closely collaborating with various departments as well as the Store Format & Design managers in the countries.
  • You are responsible for developing the global standardized Douglas Store Design, incorporating all relevant format elements and translating these concepts into standardized floor plans, which serve as the basis for local planning of new stores and renovations.
  • Flagship stores, pilot stores in new markets, and stores with special requirements are individually designed (2D/3D) by you and your team, and you oversee their implementation.
  • You design and develop new furniture up to optimal technical implementation and oversee prototype construction. Existing furniture is adjusted by you according to new design and format requirements.
  • You create a comprehensive catalog of all technical drawings for local implementation by shop fitters falls within your area of responsibility. Externally produced technical execution drawings are approved by you.
  • You define guidelines for internal and external beauty brands as well as shop partners to ensure consistent integration and visualization in all our markets.
  • You oversee the nationwide implementation of our store formats, with exceptions being centrally decided.
  • You actively support our global Construction and Indirect Procurement team and maintain continuous communication with our suppliers.

YOUR SKILLS

  • You have successfully completed a university degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Retail Design, or a related field.
  • You have 7-10 years of experience in Interior Design/Retail Design, ideally with substantial experience in a managerial position.
  • Eager to work with technical teams as well as creatives to deliver ambitious briefs with a realistic approach. (Able to strike the right balance between budget, time, and quality requirements).
  • Detail driven and problem solver. Capable of following up on multiple projects and working through challenging timelines.
  • Your profound understanding of the global retail design market and your keen sense of trends and our customers distinguish you.
  • You possess excellent communication and presentation skills and you are fluent in English.
  • Proficiency in Design/architecture programs like Vectorworks, AutoCAD, Adobe Suite; Knowledge about Modeling with 3D program; Proficient in use of Office program suite.
  • Willingness to travel and occasional store visits within Europe (day trips).
